Complex biomacromolecular interactions rely on reciprocal structural adaptation. Project B08 investigates the molecular details of nanoparticle interactions with inflammatory proteins in dependence on surface properties. The structural changes in both protein and nanoparticle and the resulting pharmacological and inflammatory consequences are being investigated using a combination of structural biology tools, primary human cells, and mouse models. This approach allows conceptualizing the role of macromolecular interactions and their structural dynamics for inflammatory diseases.
